| The Playwriting and Screenwriting BA Program invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor. We are seeking an emerging or established playwright who will contribute to shaping the program. The successful candidate will teach foundational courses in playwriting as well as upper level elective courses. Our program emphasizes dramatic writing across platforms. Therefore, the ability to teach elective courses in screenwriting is also desirable. The Playwriting and Screenwriting BA program is a part of the School of Film and Media Studies and has close ties with our BFA Film program, as well as with the Conservatory of Theater Arts BFA Acting and Theater and Performance BA programs. These programs represent a robust and renowned community in the performing and media arts. We are particularly interested in candidates whose practice intersects with issues of community engagement, social justice, and diversity. The successful candidates will be committed to student learning, student success, and a liberal arts education. Responsibilities include teaching 5 courses and supervising 4-6 senior projects per academic year. Other duties include academic advising and community service (which encompasses committee work as well as College, School, and Board of Study governance). | |
| The candidate should have an MFA in Playwriting or related field, a professional career as a playwright, a record of excellence in teaching, and a passion for working closely with students.
