Description:

Yale School of Drama invites applications for a faculty appointment in the nation’s leading three-year conservatory MFA & DFA dramaturgy and dramatic criticism program.  The successful candidate will teach classes in at least three fields for MFA students in this professional creative training program, advise MFA and DFA students, and support the Chair in maintaining a dynamic curriculum. The department will consider candidates with expertise in a broad array of specializations in dramatic literature, theory, and theater history. The appointed candidate will have teaching, advising, and administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications:

The position requires demonstrated excellence in the field with undergraduate/graduate teaching experience (2-3 years minimum), a record of publications, and experience in mentoring and advising graduate students. Candidates must hold a DFA, PhD, or equivalent degree in dramaturgy, dramatic criticism, theater history, dramatic literature, performance studies or a directly related field. An understanding of the School’s dynamic conservatory environment and dramaturgical practice is essential. Evidence of experience in and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of operations is required. The appointment will be made at the rank of Professor in the Practice, Associate Professor Adjunct, or Assistant Professor Adjunct, depending upon the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be from one to three years, beginning July 1, 2019, includes competitive salary with full faculty benefits commensurate with rank.
