Biography
Arly Rubens (she/her) is a New Jersey-based dramaturg with a special interest in interactive, experiential, and collaborative dramaturgy. She develops multimedia dramaturgical tools, resources, and outreach initiatives: these have included cigar rolling workshops with casts and creative teams (Anna in the Tropics), a tactile "found object" museum for audiences to explore (Parade), and a virtual lobby, complete with themed drink-along-at-home cocktail recipes, for a digital "Drunk Shakespeare" production (Romeo and Juliet). She is an alumnus of Kean University and has trained with the Kennedy Center Dramaturgy Intensive, Premiere Stages (Artistic/Liteary Intern), and the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (Dramaturgy/Education Intern). Arly established LMDA's Affinity Group for Early Career Dramaturgs, and she's a founding member of The People's Theater (Instagram: @peoplestheaternj), a socialist theater collective led by its members in conversation. When she's not doing dramaturgy for theater, she's doing dramaturgy as an Administrative Assistant for the Rutgers University Writing Program.
