Biography
Originally from Toronto, David is currently in his eighth year at Oakland University where he is an Assistant Professor of Theatre (Directing/Acting). Courses include: Directing I, Directing II and Advanced Directing Project; Dramaturgy; Acting: The Script; and Foundations of Theatre. He also directs plays and musicals for the Department of Theatre's mainstage season. A professional director and actor for almost 25 years, David has approximately 70 credits that span theatre and opera. He has held the position of Artistic Director for three theatre companies and was the Associate Artistic Director/Apprentice Program Coordinator of Theatre Aspen for five seasons. He has worked on numerous projects as a professional dramaturg and loves to mentor young dramaturgs in their processes. In April of 2024, his first book "Contemporary Farce on the Global Stage: or, Serious laughter" was published by Routledge.
