The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Institute of Drama, is offering a position beginning with the Winter Semester 2020/21 for a University Professorship for Theatre Studies/Dramaturgy based on § 98 of the university law and § 25 of the collective agreement for university employees, in the form of a fulltime contractual position. It is possible to agree to an overpayment of the minimum monthly salary, which has been determined by the collective agreement and which at present is 5,005.10 € gross (14 payments annually)
Task areas:
- teaching in the main subject area of dramaturgy for students majoring in performing arts (drama) and stage design
- responsible representation and promotion of the subject area in research and practice
- supervising dissertations and scholarly diploma theses in the subject areas of Theatre Studies/Dramaturgy as well as the written part of artistic diploma theses primarily in the areas of performing arts (drama) and stage design
- development, participation and implementation of research projects in the areas of Theatre Studies/Dramaturgy
- participation in organizational, administrative and evaluation duties
I. Basic Employment Requirements
- a degree at the doctoral level from an Austrian or comparable foreign educational institute relevant to the position
- Habilitation and/or a qualification equal to the Habilitation in the subject area to be filled
- proven research competency in the subject areas of Theatre Studies/Dramaturgy
- willingness to participate actively in the further development of the university’s teaching environment and its artistic and scholarly life, as well as helping shape the academic autonomy of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz
- gender competence
II. Specific Employment Requirements
- an outstanding international scholarly reputation in the area of Theatre Studies, especially involving drama in the 20th and 21st centuries
- scholarly research in dramaturgy and/or research involving artistic theatre practice and theory
- pedagogical and didactic aptitude for university teaching at an excellent level
- practical dramaturgy experience in theatre plays or in stage performances
