Literary Manager, Educational Theatre Association

EdTA seeks a freelance Literary Manager to solicit, read, evaluate and recommend original scripts to advance the canon of original works appropriate for high school theatre production to be published in our member publications. 

Freelance Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, read and evaluate original script submissions from multiple sources.
  • Prepare readers reports with recommendations per our editorial mission, and maintain a reporting system.
  • Maintain knowledge of sources of current original plays and maintain relationships with playwrights. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in playwriting, dramaturgy or literary management.
  • Literary evaluation skills sufficient to identify themes, characterization, dialogue sets and staging appropriate for high school theatre productions.
  • Experience writing readers reports for scripts reviewed.
  • Knowledge of available resources and networks to source original scripts appropriate to our mission.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Theatre, or related field, or equivalent related experience.
