Call for Submissions

Review is an annual publication. This year’s deadline for paper submissions is October 1, 2026. All submissions should be formatted to Chicago Style (18th Edition) guidelines with footnotes and a bibliography.

All submissions can be made through the Submissions and Inquiries Form. Inquiries to the editors are welcome in advance of all submissions

Peer-Reviewed Article Submissions

Peer-reviewed articles are full-length journal articles that undergo a rigorous double-blind review process by experts in the field, in addition to evaluation by the editors. 

To submit an article for peer review, please fill out the Submissions and Inquiries Form and, when prompted, upload the following as two separate documents:

• The full paper submission, double-spaced 4,000-6,000 words in .docx format (no PDFs please!), formatted according to Chicago (18th Edition) style guidelines. Articles can contain footnotes and should include a Bibliography. To ensure a fair blind review process, the author’s name should be omitted from this document.
• A title page that includes the author’s name, email address, telephone, and institutional affiliation (if applicable), as well as a brief biography.

Non-Peer-Reviewed Submissions

Non-peer-reviewed articles are evaluated by the editors and can take more expansive forms, including conversations, provocations, dramaturgical artifacts, performance reviews, and articles by authors who are not interested in going through the peer-review process. 

To submit a non-peer-reviewed article, please fill out the Submissions and Inquiries Form and, when prompted, upload the following as two separate documents:

Book Review Inquiries

Review includes book reviews of publications from academic presses. If you’re a published author and have a recent book publication in a related field you’d like to have reviewed, please contact the editors. If you would like to review a book for Review, with a book in mind or not, please fill out the Submissions and Inquiries Form. The length requirement for book reviews is 800 to 1,100 words in length.

The editors acknowledge receipt of submission for peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed articles 1–2 weeks after the submission deadline via email. The editors will follow up with those interested in writing book reviews in November.
