Dramaturging the Future
The Dramaturging the Future panel series was led by Spencer Wilkes Fields, Megan Gray Lederman, and Sheridan Schreyer (Indiana University MFA Dramaturgy ℅ 2026) as part of their ongoing effort to create a dramaturgy survival guide for early career dramaturgs. These discussions focused on three topics important to dramaturgs across various stages of their career: Launching a Dramaturgical Career, Expanding Professional Presence, and Applying Dramaturgy in Organizational Leadership.
Our first panel, Launching a Dramaturgical Career, was held on April 8, 2026 and was moderated by Megan Gray Lederman. Panelists included: Emma Durbin, Emily Dzobia, Kam Henderson, and Grace Walker. Topics of discussion included the unique challenges that come with being an early career dramaturg and the importance of community in career development.
Our second panel, Expanding Professional Presence, was held on April 15, 2026 and was moderated by Sheridan Schreyer. Panelists included: Amber Bradshaw, Heather Helinsky, Sarah Lunnie, Olivia O’Connor, and Gina Pisasale. Topics of discussion included the trajectory of their careers from early career to their current position(s) and dramaturgical survival.
Our final panel, Applying Dramaturgy in Organizational Leadership, was held on April 22, 2026 and was moderated by Spencer Wilkes Fields. Panelists Included: Liz Engelman, Celise Kalke, and Brian Quirt. Topics of discussion included how dramaturgical perspectives shape leadership and how definitions of success can change throughout one’s career.
