The Standing Committee on Degrees in Theater, Dance & Media (TDM) seeks applications for a Lecturer on Contemporary Global Performance. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025. The lecturer will teach two classes per semester at the undergraduate level. This position is a three-year appointment, with the second and third years being contingent upon satisfactory performance reviews.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and teach comprehensive, foundational courses in TDM that engage students in research, theory, forms & practice of contemporary global performance.
- Develop and teach courses exploring the global histories of performance, including experimental practices; performance curation; folk, local and popular performance traditions; international performance art with an emphasis on domains beyond Western constructs.
- Participate in amplifying departmental mission by ideating, organizing and facilitating cross-campus activities such as special events, masterclasses, and talks, as well as serving on TDM and University committees.
- Advise, evaluate and provide feedback on senior theses.
- Engage in campus and student life, including holding regular office hours, on-campus presence, and mentoring.
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D or terminal degree or equivalent experience as a practitioner of contemporary global performance.
Additional Qualifications
Proficiency in a diversity of forms or theories of performance. Curatorial knowledge, second-language and/or field research preferred. A demonstrated, strong commitment to teaching is encouraged.
