About the Position

This full-time role assists the Youth Engagement team in achieving the goals of the New 42 Youth Corps program, including New Victory Ushers (high school students), College Corps (CUNY college students), and Fellows (early career professionals). The position supports and mentors participants and requires at least three days per week in-office, with occasional evenings and weekends.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Youth Corps Support

  • Meet regularly with New Victory Ushers to assist with future planning and goal setting
  • Meet regularly with College Corps members to advise on CUNY requirements
  • Establish and support a formal mentorship program
  • Stay up to date on college access best practices
  • Maintain knowledge of CUNY and financial aid processes
  • Support students with the CUNY transfer system
  • Monitor enrollment and credits for College Corps members
  • Participate in mid- and end-of-year assessments of Usher Corps staff

Emerging Professionals Support

  • Schedule and attend fellowship training and activities
  • Support internship placement for College Corps Ushers
  • Assist Fellows in finding industry conferences and professional development opportunities
  • Help plan special events

Workshops

  • Create lesson plans and facilitate workshops and meetings
  • Coordinate programs and contacts to support career and education access
  • Implement career development and life skills workshops

Recruitment

  • Research, develop, and implement recruitment strategies
  • Coordinate career fairs and recruitment opportunities
  • Track applications
  • Schedule and conduct interviews alongside FOH/YE team

Additional

  • Administer department accounting systems including income, expenses, and petty cash
  • Mentor Youth Engagement participants and collaborate with School and Family Engagement teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications

  • English language fluency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in or experience with youth, performing arts, or arts education
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Comfort with tools like Google and Microsoft suites
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • CUNY system experience a plus
  • Knowledge of youth crisis management practices a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
