In 2024, TDF’s Accessibility, Education, and Community Programs combined under the leadership of the Vice President of Programs to provide a more nimble and intersectional approach to the constituents we serve. The Director of Programs is a new role created to support the Vice President in leading the Programs team in this new direction.
The Director of Programs is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Programs team and department, working closely with staff on flagship programming including: Introduction to Theatre and Dance, the Wendy Wasserstein Project, Autism Friendly Performances, ASL interpreted performances, open captioned performances, and audio described performances. This role also represents TDF in the fields of access, education, and health and wellness.
The position supports the development of new programs and the scaling of existing ones, including growing Autism Friendly Performances to 12 offerings a year by FY27 and expanding the Veterans Theatregoing program to reach 5,000 veterans by FY28.
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and supportive team leader with the ability to influence strategy while working autonomously and in partnership with the Vice President. Strong prioritization, organization, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is comfort working with a wide range of stakeholders including students, veterans, older adults, and people with disabilities. This role includes evening and weekend responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in leadership, including senior management roles
- At least 7 years of experience in program development, with a focus on accessibility in the arts
- Must undergo background check and fingerprinting through NYC Department of Education
