The Artistic Assistant supports the artistic, education, and engagement departments at Cleveland Play House (CPH) in producing professional theatre of the highest caliber. This role involves maintaining artistic operations, administrative processes, fiscal management, event logistics, and supporting guest artist needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all CPH product lines including mainstage productions, the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program, Family Theatre, New Ground Theatre Festival, Gala Benefit, and other special events
- Process financial transactions including check requests, stipends, reimbursements, invoices, and credit card statements
- Prepare and proofread contracts, surveys, access badges, and onboarding materials for guest artists
- Assist executive leadership with data collection, research, and presentations
- Support guest artist logistics in coordination with the General Manager and Company Manager
- Handle confidential data with discretion
- Assist with collection and editing of playbill program books
- Coordinate stage door security scheduling and rehearsal hall bookings
- Assist with talent acquisition, auditions, and casting support
- Read scripts for season planning and commissioned works
- Support rehearsals, openings, and closings as needed
- Facilitate and moderate engagement events pre- and post-show
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and respect
- Perform other duties aligned with CPH’s mission and values

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Capable of managing multiple overlapping projects
- Comfortable interacting with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- 1–3 years of experience in arts administration or event planning preferred
- Degree in arts management, theatre, or related field preferred
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and access
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Google Suite, and project management tools
Additional Requirements
- Standard hours: Weekdays, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
- Some early mornings, evenings, and weekends required
- Comfort with standing, walking short distances, and lifting up to 50 lbs
