Job Summary / Basic Function

The Department of Contemporary Art, Communication, and Theater at Shepherd University invites applications for a full-time Clinical Faculty in Acting & Theatre Studies position. This role will focus on teaching acting courses, developing and recruiting students to the Contemporary Theater Studies (CTS) program, and serving as an active liaison with the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF). The program is uniquely designed combining a liberal arts experience with an emphasis on contemporary theater studies and strong professional connection to CATF. Students are encouraged to build a community and culture of contemporary art enthusiasts and citizens.

The successful candidate will have a significant record of practical and academic acting experience and will bring professional connections to enrich students’ exposure to contemporary theater practices and contribute to the growth and development of the program. Candidates should be comfortable exploring a variety of voices and perspectives in the storytelling of plays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MFA in Theatre or equivalent professional experience.
  • Multiple years of teaching experience in acting and directing.
  • An established or burgeoning career as a professional actor with industry connections.
