GENERAL INFORMATION:

Conference Venue: Located at a fully accessible transit hub (the Ashby BART stop), the Ed Roberts Campus is a national and international model dedicated to disability rights and universal access. We will be utilizing ERC’s public atrium for plenary sessions, four technology-equipped conference rooms for breakout sessions, and large outdoor terrace for breaks and receptions. Conference sessions will run from approximately 9am–6pm, Thursday–Saturday, with civilized breaks for refreshments and lunch. The ERC has an in-house café, is within walking distance of many eating good lunch options, and is one BART stop from Downtown Berkeley. http://www.edrobertscampus.org/

Conference Banquet: HS Lordships’ Georgian Ballroom, located in the Berkeley Marina, offers panoramic views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge across the beautiful San Francisco Bay. We will gather to celebrate on Saturday, June 24, 6:30pm–midnight. http://www.hslordships.com

Accommodations: We have reserved a 30-room block of double doubles at the Doubletree Marina Berkeley with a LMDA discounted rate of $189/night (plus taxes) for 6/21/17-6/25/17 (doubletree.hilton.com). The Doubletree offers terrific views and although it is not BART-accessible, it is a 10-minute Uber ride from ERC and a 15-minute walk to HS Lordships. Because we’ll be in a major metropolitan area, hotels can be expensive, so we encourage you to explore alternatives, including dorms, hostels, and apartment sharing. We’ll keep a list of good finds on the LMDA website. If you opt to stay in downtown San Francisco, leave 30 minutes to get to the conference venue on BART. Keep in mind that June 24-25 is Pride weekend, so book your accommodations as soon as possible!

Air travel: Berkeley is accessible by BART (fare ~$8-10) from two major airports, San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK). If you’re able to stay for the full conference program – which we recommend, ‘cause it’s gonna be awesome – we suggest you plan to arrive on Wednesday, June 21, and depart on Sunday, June 25, unless, of course, you’d like to stay longer and enjoy more of the Bay Area. Set fare alerts now, and book your flight as soon as a good one appears!

Access: LMDA is committed to making this conference accessible in every way we can – price, venues, transportation, remote access, etc. Please let us know how we can better accommodate YOU!

Registration: Conference registration through the LMDA website will open by March 15, 2017.
