Biography
Angeline Larimer is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Propel New Works, a nonprofit organization that assists storytellers, community organizations addressing bioethical issues, and early career scriptwriters seeking to strengthen and expand their craft. Angeline is also the Lead Dramaturg for PlayPenn, and Associate Faculty for Indiana University Indianapolis, teaching Medical Humanities courses such as Medicine and Playwriting, as well as Applied Theatre scriptwriting classes which emphasize the responsibilities of writers to fully consider their work, particularly when writing as a vehicle for public health. She is an MFA playwright who studied with Dennis J. Reardon at Indiana University. She also has a Masters in Bioethics and participates on several public health committees in Indianapolis addressing substance use disorder, stigma of addiction, overdose prevention, and access to adequate health care. She created Theatre for Veterans, a free playwriting course for U.S. Veterans across from the country to create a creative space for this community, and this has expanded into a core group of talented and supportive writers. Her work is about bringing others along, sharing the craft, and being serious about the influence of stories. Her hope is to help new generations find meaningful work in the arts and humanities, and to also foster strong stories for today.
