Biography
Nena Martins (she/ her) is a Portuguese-born, LA-based playwright, actor, and overall theatre enthusiast. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern University with a degree in Theatre and Creative Writing and is currently pursuing her MFA in Dramatic Writing at University of Southern California. Her solo show Cry Baby, which explores the ways in which the patriarchy invades and molds female sexual expression, was recently produced by Rhino Fest in Chicago and awarded the DQT American Woman Fellowship in New York. She is also a proud Miranda Family Fellow since 2022. Some of her favorite acting credits include Yvette in Trap Door’s Mother Courage (Jeff Award Recommendation), Lucy in the Factory Theatre’s Round Yon Virgin, and Julia in Yale Production’s upcoming feature Yellow Eyes. Nena is an ensemble member at Chicago’s Gwydion Theatre Company.
