Biography
Linda Sutherland is a director, dramaturg and theatre educator. She has been teaching artist at Trinity Repertory Company since 2008. Linda designed and led the class Beyond The Stage @ Trinity Rep and teaches Scene Study, Advanced Scene Study and the Young Critics Corner. Linda previously served as Associate Director of Education at the Huntington Theatre Company where she taught the Young Critics Institute, directed the stage readings for the Young Voices Playwriting Workshop and adapted and directed scripts for the Mirror Performance Project. As an educational dramaturg, Linda created over 40 literary/curriculum guides for HTC productions. Linda was an active Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival regional and national respondent, as well as a new play development director and dramaturg for KCACTF’s National Playwriting Program. Ten-minute play directing credits include: "The Mermaid," "Delivery," "The Search" (KCACTF Region 1 Finalist), "Eye of the Storm," "Leave a Message," "Occupy Hallmark" (The Gary Garrison Outstanding Ten Minute Play Award), "The Eleven O'clock Number," the world premiere of Gary Garrison's "Skirting the Issue" (Boston Theatre Marathon XV), Lisa Kenner Grissom's "Drinks Before Flight" (Boston Theatre Marathon XVI), Deidre Girard's "Heading Toward Tiki Villa (Boston Theatre Marathon XVII) and John Minigan's "Tommy and Mary Spell Canajoharie" (Boston Theatre Marathon XXV) . Linda is a retired part-time faculty member with Boston University’s Arts Administration MS program where she designed and taught the course, Educational Programming in Cultural Institutions. She is a Guest Director at Rhode Island College, retired adjunct faculty at the University of Rhode Island and at Providence College's Department of Theatre, Film and Dance.
