Joan Robbins
Ohio Northern University
Joan Robbins is chair of the Department of Performing Arts at Ohio Northern University. She teaches courses in dramatic literature, theatre history, playwriting, directing, and acting. Joan has worked as a dramaturg and as a director in both the academic and professional theatre. As Director of Theatre at the University of Scranton, she designed and implemented a new theatre major. Highlights from her directing credits include: Dancing at Lughnasa for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, The Green Cockatoo for the Yale Cabaret, Measure for Measure, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Holy Ghosts, The Wild Duck, The House of Blue Leaves, and The Plough and the Stars for the University of Scranton, and The Cripple of Inishmaan, All My Sons, and Twelfth Night for ONU. Joan helped to design and implement ONU's International Play Festival, and serves as dramaturg for that biennial event. Joan holds an MFA and DFA in dramaturgy and dramatic criticism from the Yale School of Drama.
