Welcome to the Registration Page for the 2023 LMDA International Dramaturgy Conference:
Dramaturgical Landscapes
To register, please fill out the form below.
For information on accommodation options, travel to Banff, and the local area, please see our info page.
Dramaturgical Landscapes will offer conference sessions beginning in the late afternoon of Thursday June 22 through the evening of Saturday June 24. Sessions will explore a multitude of topics including land-based practices, devising, dance and playwriting, and shows that engage directly with the landscape through performance and protocols and advocacy.
Several sessions will invite you outside onto the beautiful Banff Centre campus for gentle walks to take you deeper into the ideas and issues of working with the land. Case studies of new works – including one by leading Indigenous creator Jani Lauzon about her current touring project Prophecy Fog, and a session about Banff Centre’s Indigenous Dramaturgies residency program – will offer insights into dramaturgical thinking about culture, process, design, performance, storytelling and much more.
We have partnered with Inside Out Theatre – a Deaf and disability theatre company in Calgary, who will have several delegates present at the conference. We are collaborating with Inside Out’s staff to create a visual accessibility guide for Banff Centre and the Conference.
Confirmed Canadian speakers to date include Keith Barker, Bruce Barton, Christine Brubaker, Erin Brubacher, Marjorie Chan, Lindsay Lachance, Jani Lauzon, Christine Quintana, Kim Richards, Vicki Stroich and Ken Williams.
We look forward to contributions from Mexican colleagues Paula Cervantes and Lourdes Guzmán González from LMDA México.
U.S. presenters include Heidi Wiren Bartlett, Arielle Julia Brown, Liz Engelman, Scott Horstein, Liana Irvine, Shelley Graham, Karen Jean Martinson, Maren Robinson and Jen Shook.
And, as always, the conference will host LMDA sessions including the Annual General Meeting and the ever-popular Hot Topics. More details about specific session content and a conference schedule will be announced in March and April.
Generous sponsorship by Canadian theatre organizations have enabled LMDA to include 5 meals as part of the registration rates: breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday, as well as a single ticket to the banquet on Saturday evening. All meals are buffet style and held at the Banff Centre, no more than a 5-minute walk from the conference venues.
