Biography
Wind Dell Woods is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at the University of Puget Sound. He holds an MFA in Playwriting from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre with emphases in Dramaturgy and Critical Theory from the Joint Doctoral Program at U.C. Irvine and UC San Diego.

As a theatre artist, his work explores the topics of race, gender, identity, community, and memory. His ten-minute play, The Black & White Minstrel Show, has been produced in Chicago, San Diego, Boston, Los Angeles, and New York City. His full-length plays include Jonny May’s Soul Kitchen, Skylark Dreams, A Bronzian Tale, Harold and I, and Aaliyah in Underland.

Woods' research interests are in the fields of Hip Hop Theatre, Hip Hop aesthetics, narratology, percussive dramaturgy, blackness, and performance, as well as the themes of death and rebirth, identity, gender, and slang.

His article “‘Bonding over Phobia’: Restaging a Revolution at the Expense of Black Revolt” is published as a chapter in Reframing the Musical: Race, Culture and Identity (2019).
