Biography
Em Reynolds (they/them) is an early-career dramaturg based out of Minneapolis. They are a recent graduate of Ithaca College with a BA in Theatre Studies with a concentration in Dramaturgy, as well as a minor in Linguistics.
During their time at Ithaca, Em served as Staff Dramaturg for TNT Radio Productions and Production Dramaturg on The Language Archive (Ithaca College Theatre Arts).
Their favorite types of works to dramaturg are those that utilize language in a "non-orthodox" manner, both in writing and in speech; they are dedicated to the accurate portrayal of dialects and language through coaching and through offering locational and historical context to performers.
Outside of theatre, Em has spent several years doing deep-dive genealogy-based research. Most notably, this includes research into the figures at the heads of lesser-known labor and activist movements in the United States, particularly youth-led; their most-researched topic is the Newsboys' Strike of 1899.
(On a less serious note: their interests outside of research include baseball, soccer, and video games, of which their favorite series is Assassin's Creed!)
RECENT WORK:
NEWSIES. Co-Dramaturg / Fight Choreographer. St. Anthony Community Theatre. Summer 2023.
THE LANGUAGE ARCHIVE. Dramaturg / Dialect Coach. Ithaca College, Spring 2023.
MALLWARE. New Work Dramaturg. Spring 2023. Ongoing.
BURR: A NEW MUSICAL. Dramaturg / Costumes. Minnesota Fringe Festival 2022.
