Biography
Megan Murphy is a playwright and dramaturg originally from New York City, with five years of experience in script development and production support for Off-Broadway and regional theatre. She has a particular interest in intersectional dramaturgies and postdramatic feminist re-visions of classics. Some of her favorite plays include PORTIA COUGHLAN by Marina Carr, MIDWINTER by Zinnie Harris, and ENGLISH by Sanaz Toosi. She holds dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States and is currently based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Megan recently completed a dramaturgy work placement at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, where she worked under Literary Associate Jackie Crichton and Artistic Director David Greig, who both praised her as a “generous collaborator” whose contributions were of "particularly high quality." Prior to this, she served as the Literary Manager for All For One Theatre, a nonprofit theatre company dedicated to developing and producing extraordinary solo performance by early-career artists. She also served as the Literary Manager for the world premiere of Emily Mann’s adaptation of THE PIANIST at the George Street Playhouse.

In addition to her dramaturgy work, Megan is a reviewer for the independent theatre blog Fringebiscuit, and serves as a panel reader for the Van Lier Fellowship and the Terence McNally New Works Incubator. She holds a BFA in Dramatic Writing from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and a MLitt in Playwriting and Dramaturgy from the University of Glasgow. She has also studied at University College London and Trinity College Dublin.
