Karen Diaz de Regules (Kay :De) is a Mexican artist and academic.
They have a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts And Sciences, a Minor in Creative Writing, a Minor in Humanities and a Certificate in Leadership from San Diego State University. Apart from getting involved in multiple areas of production, they also worked as Resident Advisor and Writing Mentor for the Rhetoric and Writing Studies Department during their time as an undergraduate student.
After graduating with honors, they got involved with Turnkey Theatre under the position of Administrative and Arts associate where they supported the productions through the roles of Content Creator, Illustrator, Video Editor, Script Consultant and Stage Manager. They also worked with Moxie Theatre as Box Office Manager until their return to San Diego State University for their Master of Arts in Theatre.
As a Master’s student, they returned to their position as a Writing Mentor in addition to working as Graduate Assistant for multiple classes in the School of Theatre, Television and Film. They presented at the Student Symposium for two consecutive years as well as assisting as a dramaturg for some productions. Their areas of research include American Gothic Theatre, American Queer Theater and Metatheatrical Works.
