Luke is a New York-based new play dramaturg with experience in a vast array of forms including large-scale musicals, Shakespeare, and experimental theatre, and is especially drawn to queer and other underrepresented works that question how the past informs the present. Using a rigorous research-based approach, he grounds and translates the historical/socio-political contexts of plays into actionable and digestible ideas for collaborators and audiences alike. He embraces the malleability of the role by striving to adapt his collaborative style to best suit the needs of playwrights from page to stage while seeking to harmonize the disparate elements of any given process. Understanding that a generous, warm, and friendly process is fundamental to good art-making, he prioritizes the fostering of caring, safe, and ethical environments. Luke recently completed his M.F.A. in Dramaturgy at the University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop.
