Biography
Born in California, educated in the Midwest, Lucas discovered theatre early on in middle school with Prairie Fire Children's Theatre. Since playing Friar Tuck in Robin Hood, he was hooked.

He received his B.A. in Theatre Arts and Scandinavian Studies (summa cum laude) from The University of North Dakota. Finding enjoyment and passion in a wide range of disciplines, he worked both on and off stage. From acting to stage management to even dramaturgy - which he discovered in his freshman year at a theatre conference - he takes pride in being a theatrical 'jack-of-all-trades'. During his time in college he studied abroad twice, both times in Norway, first at The International Summer School of Oslo and the second time at The University of Oslo. There he studied language, culture, Scandinavian film and of course Ibsen at the Ibsen Centre. He worked with Teater Neuf on design, arts administration and development. He also helped in developing a new Norwegian play about Ibsen's wife, along with traveling around Europe, taking way too many photos and meeting a menagerie of people.

Besides theatre, Lucas enjoys photography, history, and of course Scandinavia. As a proud Norwegian-American, he finds solace in his Western Norwegian roots. He has worked as a translator, teacher and linguist and continues to research scholarship on Norwegian folklore, Nordic pop culture, Nynorsk and dialects, and of course the Vikings.

In 2012 he was chosen out of 6 directors to work on the 10 Minute New Work Festival with the Kennedy Center College Theatre Festival at The University of Lincoln-Nebraska. His makeup designs, which won his undergraduate department's award for best student design, for Urinetown: The Musical were chosen for that year's Costume Parade at the festival as well. Since moving to the Twin Cities he has worked with companies like The Public Theater, Box Wine Theatre, Theatre in the Round Players, The Unit Collective, Walking Shadow Theatre Company, Six Elements Theatre, Park Square Theatre, Yellow Tree, and Freshwater Theatre Co.

Lucas is working with The Public Theater of Minnesota as an office manager, where he can combine his love of theatre and administration. Lucas is also a founding member of Market Garden Theatre in Minneapolis. In Fall of 2014 he will be an Artistic Intern at The Playwrights Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota - there he will help develop new work through artistic, management and administration practices.

With ambitions of becoming a full-time director and arts administrator, Lucas plans to continue onto graduate school for his M.F.A in Directing. Lucas also hopes to continue to travel and work internationally. He is constantly looking for more opportunities and jobs – be it in the Cities or elsewhere. He is young, eager and ready to learn, explore, and play. He is a proud member of the Sons of Norway, The Ibsen Society of America, LMDA, The Theatre Communications Group. lucasskjaret.com
