Jessica Hughes
Emory and Henry College
Emory and Henry College B.A. in Pre-Professional Musical Theatre 2016
Jessica is a junior Pre-Professional Musical Theatre Major at Emory and Henry College.
She recently spent her summer in Portstewart, Northern Ireland working for Big Telly Theatre Company as a Creative Arts Trainee. Her time there gave her hands-on experiences in devising, street performance, educational theatre, and workshop facilitation. This experience has further equipped her to be a professional practitioner as well as a courageous performer and individual.
Her studies at Emory and Henry College have encouraged her as a theatre practitioner as well as an academic. As an active member in the Honors Program, Jessica has explored how to create artistic works that are in-depth explorations. She has begun to explore the world of professional dramaturgy in addition to her performance work, in the hopes of satisfying her bookworm tendencies.
Jessica has also taken a keen interest in dance. Through her studies inside and outside of Emory and Henry, Jessica has delved into tap, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. She hopes to further her studies in dramaturgy and dance through professional experiences.
She currently resides in southwest Virginia reveling in the mountain landscapes. However, she looks forward to traveling and experiences new places as a professional theatre practitioner.
