Post Matinee Discussion Host/Facilitator, Oregon Shakespeare Festival

DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for hosting and providing facilitation related to OSF’s mission and values of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for the Post Matinee Discussion program including event set-up (signage & PA system), break down and overall patron safety.

The Post Matinee Discussion Host/Facilitator position is seasonal, part-time, and non-exempt.

REQUIREMENTS

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

In collaboration with Associate Director of Membership and Patron Engagement and OSF Literary Department develop short-list of moderated questions to seed conversations. This may involve research on a script, design element or specific actor/character role. 

Maintain discussion space including unlocking and preparation/set-up (signage and PA system) before the discussion, cleaning/break-down and locking up after the discussion as necessary. 

Welcome audience into the space, establish conversation guidelines and safety protocols; introduce actor or company member(s) 

Familiarization with and active cultivation of EDI competency related to current Playbill, Acting Company and OSF mission and values. Ability to interrupt and redirect problematic questions or themes as needed 

Repeat patron questions for all to hear 

Provide event timekeeping to ensure that event ends on time, actor/company member is able to depart as needed and space is made clear for any upcoming commitments (cleaning crew, next event etc.) 

As part of closing remarks include a group solicitation for membership (renewal and acquisition) as well as a thank you to current Members in the audience. 

Maintain simple demographic data on each event including approximate number of people in attendance, actor/presenter and summary of general themes of discussion. Provide weekly reports to Associate Director of Membership and Patron Engagement. 

Attend regular check-in meetings with other Post Matinee Discussion Host/Facilitators and Associate Director of Membership and Patron Engagement 

Meets the public, answers questions, and provides information consistent with the organization’s mission and values in specific its commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion 

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s degree in theatre, arts or social justice encouraged. 

Work Experience: Prior sales experience and/or customer service experience is helpful. 

Physical Ability: Ability to work outside in the summer heat, move freely around the campus and stand for long periods of time; ability to lift 50lb. 

Other Skills, Knowledge, Ability: Proven competency in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Experience with group facilitation is helpful. 

Special Hours Requirements: This position requires flexibility working short number of hours on multiple days of the week, including weekends. 

Salary - $19.69/hour
