Job Description

The School of Performing Arts (SPA) at the College of Arts and Humanities is seeking a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor of theatre history. The anticipated start date is August 2019.

The successful candidate will teach the entire three-course sequence of Theatre History/Dramatic Literature courses in the undergraduate curriculum. All three courses of the sequence are offered each semester. Additional duties will include: mentoring student dramaturgs, overseeing departmental exit critiques, serving on thesis committees, and collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and University of Central Florida (UCF) partners on assigned projects. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain a strong research profile, with presentations at regional, national and international meetings, and refereed publications.

Position Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. or DFA from an accredited institution by the time of application; one year of college-level teaching experience as instructor of record; and evidence or promise of scholarly activity.

Preferences

Additional teaching experience and/or evidence of teaching excellence; demonstrated knowledge and experience in dramaturgy; background in the advising and supervision of undergraduate and graduate scholarly work; and evidence of scholarship in an area of specialization.
